Air travel for disabled people: new legislation

A new law implementing the rights of disabled travellers Regulation (EC) No 1107/2006 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 5 July 2006, regulates the rights of disabled persons and persons with reduced mobility when travelling by air. This law comes into effect in two parts:

What are your obligations if you are an airport and tour operator?

If you provide airport and travel services in the UK you are already obliged to address these obligations to provide equality of service to disabled customers. This new legislation adds weight to those obligations requiring that “all staff dealing directly with the travelling public must receive disability-awareness and disability equality training.

How Wideaware can help

A one stop consultancy service: our unique expertise has enabled us to develop training solutions that can be tailored to the needs of aviation, travel & tourism and hospitality industries. We can deliver courses on a face-to-face basis, online or in a blended fashion, where the face-to-face training is followed by an online course to reinforce what has been learned.

We can provide tailored, effective online training that will rally your staff around your company and help them provide confident and inclusive customer service. You can choose an interactive course that is fully mediated or you can choose a faster, less interactive course that can be completed in the participants’ own time in 3-4 hours in total.
