Maria Zedda’s elected as interim Chairperson for the CET of London 2012.

Wideaware’s managing director, Maria Zedda has been appointed Chair of the Community Engagement Team (CET) of London 2012, helping disability organisations provide feedback to the organisers, LOCOG.

Maria has been chosen by her peers as a result of her work as a disability equality consultant and trainer and her excellent track record as an access adviser, researching and advising reasonable solutions to access challenges. Maria is a Board Member of Ability Media and the British Library’s Business and IP Centre and believes it’s crucially important to engage with grassroots disability organisations to encourage them feeling involved in the upcoming Olympic and Paralympic Games of London.

The CET are a group of individual Disabled People, charities and local organisations passionate about participation of disabled Londoners and visitors in the Games and London life. We help LOCOG ensure equal participation in the 2012 Games, as well as make the most of this unique opportunity to leave a lasting legacy of inclusion.

We hope to achieve this through practical, improved access and by feeding back into great initiatives such as the London 2012 Festival. The CET wish to tell the world how we worked to help make these Games the most accessible of all times.
