Wideaware at the International Ability Media Awards 2009

Wideaware were proud to be amongst the sponsors at the
International AMI Awards ceremony that took place November 17th.
Maria Zedda, our Managing Director, and trustee of the Creative Board at Ability Media, handed in the award for Best Web-Based Application to V2V Starbucks .
The platform is used to encourage employees and customers to post service opportunities that address the issues they care most about both locally and globally. Over 20,000 Starbucks’ employees and customers have registered and nearly 2,000 actions have been posted to date. The goal of this impressive initiative is to contribute over 1 million hours of community service annually by 2015.
Wideaware were honoured to be awarding this prestigious recognition to V2V Starbucks in acknowledgement of their amazing effort to make measurable and significant change to issues affecting people globally.
The Ability Media International (AMI) Awards scheme was developed by leading figures in the media industries and has received cross-political-party support. They will identify outstanding creative projects, with the aim of encouraging a more inclusive world.
Winners are chosen for their creative excellence and social relevance. Winners were, amongst many, Channel 4’s Alison Walsh , The Street’s Jimmy McGovern , Cbeebies’ Cerrie Burnell and Deaf soprano opera singer Janine Roebuck .
Successful work has clearly demonstrated how people who are disabled or who come from under-represented groups in society, have been involved in, positively represented by, or assisted with their work.
